The American Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) formally named the resolution of 4K as Ultra HD (Ultra High-Definition)
The current video industry's video resolution specification:
(1) high definition (High Definition), is one of the words we are relatively familiar with. HD was first put forward in the field of radio and television. The related standards were first established by authoritative institutions such as the American film and Television Engineers Association (SMPTE). In the field of video surveillance, radio and TV standards were also widely used. "HD" is defined as three standard forms of 720p, 1080i and 1080p, and 1080P has another form of address - all high definition (Full High Definition). About HD standard, internationally recognized two: video vertical resolution of more than 720p or 1080i; video aspect ratio is 16:9.
(2) the standard clear (Standard Definition) is a video format of the physical resolution below 720p.
(3) ultra high definition (Ultra High-Definition), this is our focus today. The newly approved information from International Telecommunication Union shows that the official name of 4K resolution (3840 * 2160 pixels) is named "super HD Ultra HD (Ultra High-Definition)". At the same time, this name is also applicable to "8K resolution (7680 * 4320 pixels)".
CEA, all consumer monitors and televisions should meet the following conditions, can be labeled "Ultra HD Ultra HD label: the first screen pixel must reach 8 million effective pixels (3840 x 2160), without changing the screen resolution of the case, at least one way transmission terminal can transmit 4K video display. 4K content must not native, the frequency, the aspect ratio of at least 16:9. Meanwhile, in the TV industry, the name of the 4K TV is named after HDTV, which is called the "HD TV". The Consumer Electronics Association of America has officially named UHDTV for 4K TV, the name is super HD TV.
720p format, resolution is 1280 * 720p/60Hz, the frequency is 45kHz.
The resolution of 4K is 4 times 3840 x 2160 = 1920 = 1920 * 2 x 1080 x 2.
The resolution of 8K is 4 times 7680 x 4320 = 3840 = 3840 * 2 x 2160 x 2.
